Dr. Senthil Radhakrishnan
Dr. Senthil Radhakrishnan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology at the Virginia Commonwealth University. He obtained his PhD from the University of Illinois at Chicago and performed his postdoctoral research at the California Institute of Technology. During his postdoctoral work, Senthil identified the transcription factor Nrf1 as a mediator of the proteasome recovery/compensatory pathway that is activated in response to proteasome inhibition. Currently, Senthil’s research program is aimed at understanding the cellular protein degradation pathways with a specific focus on the Nrf1-proteasome axis. Apart from exploring the molecular mechanism behind these pathways, Senthil’s laboratory is also interested in translating these findings into therapies for various human pathologies including cancer, neurodegeneration, and NGLY1 disease.
