Dr. Chengcheng Huang
Dr. Chengcheng Huang is a foreign postdoctoral researcher on the Glycometabolome Team at RIKEN. Dr. Huang received her Ph.D. training in a joint program between RIKEN and Saitama University (Saitama, Japan) on their Glycometabolome Team from October 1st 2011 to March 30th 2015. Her Ph.D. thesis was about non-conventional degradation pathways of glycoproteins in mammalian cells. Her study focused on the function of cytosolic deglycosylating enzymes ENGase and NGLY1 at the cellular level. Dr. Huang offered the evidence that cytosolic ENGase, in the absence of NGLY1, becomes problematic by working directly on misfolded model glycoproteins. With the support of the RIKEN foreign postdoctoral researcher program, beginning April 1st 2015, Dr. Huang works on establishing a drug screening system to investigate efficient ENGase inhibitors for the treatment of NGLY1 Deficiency.
