Ian Blong

Stanford University

Ian Blong is a doctoral candidate in the Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine program at Stanford’s School of Medicine in Prof. Carolyn Bertozzi’s lab.  He completed his undergraduate degree in Molecular Bioscience and Biotechnology at Arizona State University, and his Masters in Cell and Molecular Biology as a California Institute of Regenerative Medicine Bridges Fellow at San Francisco State University. His graduate work with Prof. Bertozzi has focused on understanding the regulatory role that intracellular protein glycosylation plays during human pluripotent stem cell differentiation. Ian is now investigating the effects that NGLY1 deficiency has on the differentiation potential of patient pluripotent stem cells in order to identify molecular targets for future therapeutic strategies.
