William Francis Mueller earned his Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences from the University of California, Irvine. He joined Lars Steinmetz’s group at the EMBL in Heidelberg, Germany to study gene regulation, but was drawn to the study of rare diseases and NGLY1. As the NGLY1 team leader in the lab, Will coordinates and directs the research between the two Steinmetz Lab locations at Stanford and EMBL. He is using systems genetics approaches to determine the molecular phenotypes of NGLY1 Deficiency and leveraging that information into functional screens and assays that can predict therapies for treatment.
